As part of some house remodeling, I wanted to add a sauna room. I shared my ideas and drawings with Tom. He communicated with me quickly and had good advice. Baltic Leisure sent out a partial shipment, when I only needed the heater delivered quickly. They held back cutting the wood for the kit, so I could delay receiving it, while some construction was interfering with the sauna area. All deliveries were crated very well and nothing arrived damaged. Despite the big crates, it was bundled in sections that it was very easy for me to unload from the delivery truck. Baltic Leisure has made me feel like a valued customer.

I love it!!Toni in customer service assisted with questions, updates and resolutions; Paul, one of the master carpenters, was friendly and helpful in making modifications I requested, Mike and Tom were patient in working with me in addressing schedule, lighting and customization questions regarding my sauna.I use it several times a week. We purchased a 4-person sauna from Baltic Leisure and from the day we purchased the unit I was happy with the customer service and friendliness of the company. Tom Smithson is very knowledgeable and always happy to speak directly with customers. We have had our sauna for probably 8 or 10 years now and in that time, we have had only 2 service calls which speaks volumes for the quality of the product considering we use it almost daily. The last service call I placed Tom walked me through a step-by-step troubleshooting process to ensure my issue wasn't something I could resolve myself. Who does that these days? It turned out the heating unit just required a deep cleaning something that meant taking the heater apart. We clean the sauna and heater twice a month but after 8-10 years it needed something more thorough. Sean Smithson handled the entire process for us. He was an absolute pleasure to work with and also very knowledgeable. The cost of the service call was very than reasonable, and the work was done in less than a week. I would highly recommend purchasing a sauna from Baltic Leisure. I did a ton of research prior, and they seemed to be the gold standard and after our purchase that proved to correct. When we move south, I will definitely purchase another sauna from Baltic Leisure because the quality of the product is just outstanding.

This was my second time ordering wood from Baltic Leisure to make a sauna. My first build was in CY2002 and, ironically, I saved all of my working notes and was able to connect with Tom Smithson (again!) 19 years later to help me order wood for my second build. I was not able to take the first sauna with me due to moving costs (external to our house) and the fact that I wanted to make a few new, better design changes for my second build. For the build in CY2021 (outer dimensions ~6’x7.5’, inner dimension somewhat less), I was fortunate to get my Baltic order in prior to the really crazy lumber price increases due to the pandemic. Tom was very helpful in providing a quote after I typed up and reviewed my needs in spreadsheet with him. The wood arrived about two months later and there were only a few nicks (shipping bumps on the end of the carton) on a couple of boards that turned out NOT to be an issue, but that is why one usually orders about 10% more than you need (that is what I do approximately). For the most part, all of the wood would have been workable, but I preferred not to use a couple of boards due to slight warping (rip-wise) and a whiter color, but again, not an issue because of the ability to select a replacement from the extras. The wood is beautiful and nicely kiln dried. Things have changed over 19 years and the red cedar I ordered in 2002 had a lot more “redness” to the boards and they came in ~1x6” nominals (coverage less than this obviously) vs. ~1x4” in today’s widths. I’m sure it was much easier to find wood of this quality and width back then vs. today’s options. In any event, the color today is fine nonetheless (I used the whiter boards below the benches so I could highlight the richer red-toned boards at eye viewing ranges), and it just takes a little more air-nailing to cover the same amount of surface area with the smaller sized boards. I also ordered the heater and door from Baltic. All in all, I was very pleased with my experience and wood received from Baltic! I would love to order from Baltic again, but we plan on taking this sauna with us this time to our lake home (TBD) in retirement (I’m hoping I can find a mover), and it was a lot of work (all designed and built by me with a little holding of things once and awhile from my wife). Attached are a few pictures of my handiwork. I’m not a carpenter or woodworker, just a person with a math degree and a desire to build something creative and healthy. I learned how to do vinyl siding this time as well. And the only thing we paid for (labor-wise) was the pouring of a cement pad. We use it quite frequently, maybe two times a week year-round, and more in the winter. Thank you Baltic Leisure (& Tom)!

Recently added a Baltic Leisure Sauna in my home.Tom (CEO)figured out the best location since I wasn’t sure where to put it.The finished sauna shows superb craftmanship.The installers were respectful of my home.One final note. Tom installed the electrical work himself since many electricians weren’t available for weeks in order for us to use the sauna. Great customer service !!!
